Maths mania
Hello welcome back to My blog. Here´s what I have Been learning this week. I learnt how to use linear scales and whole numbers of metric units for length. Did you know that if you have a question like 4.3+5.43 the 3 actually stands for 3o. This is when you have a whole number and a part of a number. You add the whole number first and then you + the parts together. Do you know any other strategies to work this out?

Mum lay curled up sadly crying and sniffling softly to herself with her back turned to the door. Her son walked into her room and sat down on the bed with a bright pink box. As he turned to go, Mum pinched and grabbed hold of him and he looked back into his mum’s eyes that looked as sad as ever. Mum got up and crawled over the bed to sit with her son. The boy handed her a bread treat. The pair sat together. Mum’s head rested on her son’s shoulder. Suddenly the curtains began to sway.
A few days later …
There was all the family including the girl that the bao bun was dating. They were all around the table making bao buns when the girl had made three buns, Mum and her son gazed open mouthed at them.

Beth the seal get´s lost
Once in the cold Antarctica there was a baby seal. The seal's name was Beth, Beth was a cute fluffy seal. The weather in Antarctica was as good as in other countries but it was still cold, the weather was fine with it’s bright blue almost clear sky and with the sun reflecting off the water. Beth enjoyed playing in the water until her mum Lily called or her to have dinner. Her dinner was a piece of fish or two and she loved it, it was so good when it was fresh. She spent most of her life in the water that was as cold as Ice and so did her mum, doing flips and dives. Everything was so awesome and peaceful.
It was a fresh cold morning when Beth and Lily were playing by the water on the ice that was getting as thin as paper. They were diving into the freezing water and back out onto the thin ice. The Ice was cracking but Beth and Lily did not notice. Lily lightly leapt across to another big dome and she was looking in the other direction at the as blue as the sea sky when the ice cracked CRACK! The ice was floating away with Beth on it. Lily didn’t realize until Beth was nearly all the way to New Zealand. She dived into the water that was as cold as Ice cream and started swimming as quickly as a fish in the clear water that was shiny reflecting against the water. If only She had kept an eye on Beth, If only She had been on the ice when it cracked. If only she didn’t scuttle to the dome. How long was Beth going to be floating for?
Lily was wondering what to do, she thought and thought and thought but couldn’t think of anything that might help her get back Beth. Then all of a sudden she had an idea! Her idea was to swim all the way to New Zealand. But what if she got too puffed, but what if she couldn’t find enough food, what if Beth had not gone by the time she got there, what would she do? She started to swim as quickly as a shark. It took Lily hours and she was getting tired and hungry, Lily started to find some food to eat. Once Lily was fed she started to get back on track to go and save Beth. After a while Lily finally came to New Zealand where the sun was as bright as the brightest yellow ever. Lily started to look for Beth. After a while Lily was about to give up when she heard a cry (It was very pitchy) and started to follow it until she came to the block of ice that was as thin as anything and it was melting fast and ar ar ar ar ( which meant Iĺl come and get you, just hang on) so Lily went over to the ice and said
“ ar ar ar ar ar ar ar, ar ar ar”.
( which means “hop onto my back and I’ll catch you, you just need to trust me”) and replied
“Ar ar ar”
( which means”I trust you”) so Beth jumped on to her mother's back gently and they started to swim back to Antarctica, where it was nice and cold.

Ordering unit fractions
This week my maths goal was ordering unit fraction. Unit fractions have a 1 as the numerator and a different number as the denominator. We had to make a short screencastify that shows your understanding about ordering unit fractions. What's the differences between a fraction and a unit fraction?

Jolliest jolly jars.
Learning (PBL) started with the teachers putting us into groups. In these groups we had to
work collaboratively to create Jolly Jars for the school fair. This task helped us to begin
exploring our PBL question for the term - How can we build community through our actions?
We had to research ideas, be creative with our product, experiment with our materials and write
instructions that could be followed by others.
